Transgendered and Sports: Are you active? Some thoughts on the state of sports and gender issues

So I longboard, and am a skater.
I am active in the local skateboarding community,
I am also a skier as well as formerly being very involved in Aikido and other martial arts.
However, being me, and very sporty, I have often wondered whether or not I have the time and/or money to play on a Soccer (Futbol) league again, and I suppose the curiosit comes up as to whether being Transgendered would bring up issues.
Of course, I live in Boulder, so likely not for me. But what about others? Where does a trans Person fit on an "all male" team for instance, if that person has a female gender ID. Or what about on a Female team? Some might say that the persons, masculinity gives that particular girls team an unfair advantage. They may have a point. For what is probably a center of gravity issue, Female snowboarders and skiers tend to not throw nearly as big of air tricks or rotations as their male counterparts. (Kelly Clark comes close) This has always been an issue in sports in general (the male/female thing) but it is complicated by the Transgendered issue. If a Trans Woman Pro Skier pulled a 15 foot 1080 Misty Flip with an Iron Cross in the superpipe event, and consequently won the event Gold, there would be a BIG controversy over the legitimacy of the win. People would say the Trans Woman had an unfair bodytype advantage over her other competitors. And they would have a point. The only reason we have gender segregated Sports in some categories, is to level the playing field for all participants. If in the example of Pro skiing or snowboarding, if the Superpipe event was not gender segregated, Men would win all the medals every year. They just tend to throw way bigger air with more spins than the girls. Albeit, the girls tend to have a tighter pattern and more fluid and seamless tricks, but they are still not as high or powerful in spins, and rotation than the guys tricks. So where do we stand on this? As Trans People and Activists become more and more visible to the public, this sort of thing is going to come up. How are we going to deal with this?
With team sports you can have co-ed teams, but what about individual sports?
How are we going to deal with this and these issues?
What stand are we going to take?
